Over the past weekend, we held a web building workshop – that taught participants to build a custom website with HTML, CSS & Javascript (none of those template, Wix, stuff..)
Many people asked if we were going to live-stream the workshop (see below).
After some thought, we decided to re-run our physical workshop as an online workshop on Zoom.
In this workshop, you’ll learn to build a custom website and launch it.

In 2018, we were interested in teaching people data science. We published a few of our bootcamps on Peatix, and got a few of customers.
But we didn’t hit our customer goals until about a year later – when we built a website for the bootcamp and positioned it as a product.
Fast forward to today, the single web page we built (see below) has brought us over RM500,000 in revenue.

Besides having a great product, what you’ll discover is launching a successful business requires a lot of skills, such as:
- Website building and optimization.
- Landing page optimization.
- Copywriting.
- Product positioning.
- Recording videos.
This is what gurus don’t tell you. “Just use a web template!”, they say. And then they forget to mention that they’ve been doing this for the last 10 years. (well yeah, thanks…)
There are many skills you will need. But the good news is, you don’t have to do them all. At least, not when you are just getting started.
This workshop will teach you the crucial fundamentals – how to identify a product-market fit, build a custom website, and get your first paying customer.

Ever since I moved back from Australia, my mission has been to grow tech talents in Malaysia.
That led me to take up a position in MaGIC back in 2014, to start LEAD – where we help individuals and companies break into tech.
Fast-forward today, I have been privileged to teach thousands of individuals and small and large companies like Intel, BFM, HSBC, and Microsoft.
During this workshop, I’ll be teaching you using the exact method I use to teach companies. I don’t normally do physical workshops like this and we’re expecting a number of registrations, so register early.

I started my career as a music producer and co-founder of a music school (still running today) in Penang.
During that time (early 2007), one of my ‘marketing strategies’ was to drop physical flyers to houses nearby. That strategy bombed.
Eventually, in my struggles – I set up a website, dabbled with SEO, and digital marketing. Things began to click. In 6 months, I grew the music school from 15 to over 300 students.
After that, I began helping companies grow revenue with digital marketing and so far – have been blessed with the opportunity to help brands like Nandos, TNB Malaysia, Q-dees, and Capitaland.
When I teach marketing, I don’t teach by the textbook, but from actual experience. In this workshop, you’ll learn my exact strategies.

Do I need to register prior to the event?
Yes, so we’re able to make logistic and venue arrangements.
What time does the event starts?
We do have 2 sessions – Session 1 (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM) and Session 2 (1:30 PM – 4:00 PM). This isn’t going to be a typical “Malaysian Timing” thing. We will start on time.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes, but they have to be registered to make sure we have a seat allocated. You can share this page link to get them registered to come for the workshop with you.
I’m not technical-savvy. Will I be able to follow and understand?
Running a successful website does not require you to be technically savvy. You’ll be taught the basics, from scratch.
I'm completely new. Will this work for me?
Yes. Usually, a typical room will have 90% of participants who are completely new and non-technical.
I already have a website running. How will this workshop benefit me?
This workshop will reveal how you can grow and scale your website or application. It is the same methods that we use up to this day to validate an idea, develop, and launch into the market.
When is the next workshop if I miss this one?
We don’t run many of these workshops and we only do it when we get demands from the audience. So we don’t really know when the next one will be. Write in to support@thelead.io if you can’t make it and we’ll make sure that we keep you in the loop if we have another workshop.
